The Lecture
This one-hour Christmas-season lecture, marking the closing of the Jubilee Year, invites you to reflect on how the great themes of Advent—hope, longing, and the joyful promise of renewal—come alive through some of the most evocative artworks in the Christian tradition. From early icons to Renaissance masterpieces and modern interpretations, we will explore how artists across the centuries have expressed the mystery of the Incarnation and the dawning light of Christ through color, symbol, and sacred narrative.
Through guided visual reflection and concise historical insights, we will contemplate selected works that highlight Mary’s unique role, the fulfillment of ancient prophecy, and the radiant expectation of Christmas. This session offers not only a deeper appreciation of these masterpieces but also a moment of spiritual pause as the Jubilee Year draws to a close.
By the end of the hour, you will carry a renewed understanding of Advent imagery and a sense of how beauty prepares the soul for the feast of Christmas—an uplifting way to conclude the Jubilee and welcome the season with gratitude and hope.
Merry Christmas
Wishing each of you a blessed and joy-filled Christmas season.
May these days be illuminated with peace, renewed hope, and the quiet beauty that Advent prepares us to receive. As we close the Jubilee Year and move toward the celebration of Christ’s birth, may your homes and hearts be graced with warmth, light, and every good gift.
Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year to you and your loved ones.
